Whether I implement a single or multiple management systems, I break it down as follows

 

Say what you do – document all aspects of what you do as an organization.

Do what you say – get the co-operation and buy in of the relevant staff – then expect them to follow the documented system that you have developed.

Be able to prove it – build in steps at the fist stage, of what and when checks and balances should be done to confirm that processes are being followed. A part of this would be your Internal Audits.

Continually improve it – focus on continually tweaking and improving your system, whether the process has changed, new equipment has come in or what you originally developed is proving to be too bureaucratic. This could start within days of a document being issued …
